Shaw ready to face voters at AGM
Veteran administrator Wayne Shaw, who is seeking to become a director of Netball Jamaica, says he is quietly confident ahead of tomorrow’s annual general meeting (AGM).
Shaw, who is the president of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association, is among three candidates vying for two spots as directors.
The other candidates are former Sunshine Girls captain Simone Forbes and Leonie Phinn, who is the first vice-president of the Business House Basketball Association.
Shaw told STAR Sports that all the candidates are very experienced individuals and therefore he is expecting a very closely contested election.
“I am feeling confident because this will be my second term and I still have some unfinished business that I need to sort out,” said Shaw.
“Simone is a former national player and I know that the players are going to welcome someone like her because she has a lot of experience in netball,” Shaw said.
“Leonie is also is a very experienced administrator with NCB (National Commercial Bank) and so she has been in sports for a very long time,” he said.
He added that he has done a lot of work on the ground and it is now up to the voters to decide who are the best candidates for the positions.
“I am ready and so whatever the voters decide on Saturday so be it because I just want netball to grow and to be the winner at the end of the day,” Shaw said.
Only paid up members and affiliates of Netball Jamaica will be allowed to vote in tomorrow’s AGM. The AGM is set for the Heart Academy in the Half-Way Tree starting at 2 p.m.
