Reno aim to add pressure on MBU
Coach of Reno, Michael ‘Jim Dandy’ Graham, is heading to Montego Bay to add more pressure on home side Montego Bay United (MBU) when the teams clash tonight in the Red Stripe Premier League at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in Catherine Hall. Match time is 8:30.
Reno are in fifth position on 20 points from 13 games and will hunt full points in order to distance themselves from the team behind. While, MBU are coming off a heavy 1-5 defeat to Portmore United and will also be looking forward to rebound.
“It is going to be an interesting one tomorrow. We are trying to pick up points every week so that we won’t be in a close tussle with other teams,” Graham told STAR Sports yesterday. “The team is heading to MoBay with a clear understanding that we have to get points there. It is no difference when we travel to MoBay,” the former national striker added.
“The aim is to try for maximum points on the road, if not, we go for one point. Naturally, when you lose there is no point to get,” Graham, who is also former Reno star striker, outlined. “We should have been higher in the league as we have squandered some opportunities to do so. I am not satisfied but happy where we are at this point,” he also said.
Graham said that the team’s leading goalscorer Craig Foster, who is on six goals, is feared by defenders as they have to pay special attention to him.
Foster should get support from Fancy-Hue Stewart who has netted three times and Afiba Chambers.
MBU has been up and down so far this season. They will look to captain Dwayne Ambusley, national player Ladale Ritchie, and others to come away with a result at home.
In a game yesterday, Cavalier and Arnett Gardens ended in a 4-3 thriller. Arnett raced into a 4-1 lead, but home side Cavalier came back strongly with two late goals at Stadium East.
Marvin Morgan Jr sent Arnett into the lead in the first minute, while other scorers for the ‘Junglists’ were Steve Clarke (6th), Fabian Reid (30th) and Shamar Pryce (64th). Cavalier hit back courtesy of a double by their captain Chevone Marsh in the 37th and 88th minutes, and substitute Nickoy Christian (90th).
