National senior team midfielder Marvin Morgan Jr was elated to have scored his first goal for Arnett Gardens this season in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), this after coming back from injury.

Morgan’s goal came in the first minute and inspired reigning champions Arnett Gardens to a hard-fought 4-3 win against Cavalier at Stadium East yesterday.

“I was a little off after been sidelined for two weeks due to injury. It is good to get my first goal in the new season. Now, I’m looking forward to finish with at least 12 goals. However, the key is to stay healthy,” Morgan told STAR Sports after he was adjudged Man of the Match.

“The injury was a little setback, but I will continue working on my fitness level as the team is very competitive with quality players. No player is sure of a game, so each player have to work hard,” he shared.

“I am currently in the national senior team, and will continue to help Arnett in whatever way I can,” the former St George’s College schoolboy sensation said.

Meanwhile, Arnett continued their unbeaten run after what was a thrilling victory, but despite the three points and his influence, Morgan was left somewhat dissatisfied with his team’s performance.

“We played well in the first half, but let it slip in the second half and Cavalier came back. But we remain unbeaten and that is important. Our aim is to retain the title with an unbeaten run. We know it won’t be easy but the team is confident and the coach is pushing us,” Morgan said.

The skillful 25-year-old started his senior career at Santos in 2008, then represented home town club Boys’ Town in the Premier League in 2010. He then went on loan at Ventura County Fusion in the United States Soccer League and returned to Boys’ Town in 2012. He also represented Waterhouse in the 2013-14 season.
