... MoBay players told to stay focused
With his team sitting two points behind sixth-place and just one spot outside a play-off spot in the Red Stripe Premier League, Montego Bay United (MBU) coach Rodrick Underwood says his players cannot afford to get too merry this Christmas.
“We are going to be respectful of the holidays, but we still have to keep training. We are trying to be as professional as we can. I expect players to be with their families, but I also expect them to be responsible,” said Underwood.
Fresh from their comeback 32 victory over Harbour View on Sunday at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, MoBay will on Thursday play away to Humble Lions. The players will then enjoy a short Christmas break, but they will have to be ready for the next fixture on December 28.
PLAY-OFFS SPOT
MBU now sit in seventh place on the table, just two points outside the play-offs spots. Coach Underwood, who is pleased with the intensity his boys displayed on Sunday, told the WESTERN STAR that there will be no Christmas break for the players.
Coach Underwood said his players have been fighting for each other. He said his team showed positive intent and character on Sunday.
“We had a good attitude and was good around the goal also, something we haven’t been doing all season so that was important to us,” said Underwood.
MBU’s fightback was constructed by Dino Williams (41st), Nicholas Amponsah (50th) and Ladale Richie from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute all after they were found trailing by two goals after their former player Peter-Lee Vassell’s struck in the 28th minute, just three minutes after Daniel Green’s opener.
