Masicka, Tommy Lee missing in action ... No-show for GT Christmas Extravaganza

- ADRIAN FRATER STAR Writer

The non-appearance of deejay Masicka and Tommy Lee‘s arrival after GT Christmas Extravaganza ended yesterday morning has left promoter GT Taylor hopping mad.

He is adamant that unless the artistes issue a public apology for the errant behaviour, he plans to take legal action against them.

“We run a professional operation, which is built on 17 years of honouring our commitment to our loyal patrons,” said Taylor, who spoke to THE STAR after the show ended shortly after 7 a.m. at the Launa Sports Complex in Black River.

“Many of the younger fans came out to hear Masicka and Tommy Lee, and they left disappointed and unhappy with me.

“I did all that I was supposed to do in terms of my contractual arrangement with the artistes, and they ended up creating a problem with me and my fans. I want the fans to know that I was not at fault, hence I am asking for a public apology from both gentlemen,” said Taylor.

Taylor said that he was aware that both acts were billed for other shows, and as a consequence, he structure their performance in such a way that they would be able to do the other shows and get to the Launa Sports Complex on time to honour their obligation.

DID NOT EVEN ANSWER

“We sought the extension from the authorities to go until 7 a.m. to facilitate these two artistes, and one showed up after the show ended and the other never showed up at all,” said Taylor.

“I started calling Masicka from shortly after 1 a.m., and he did not even answer his telephone ... . I am both upset and embarrassed by the whole thing.”

According to Taylor, when Tommy Lee showed up after the show ended, he apologised to him and offered to return the deposit that had been paid to him. While he has accepted the apology on a personal basis, Taylor wants him to now apologise publicly to the fans.

“I accept his apology, but I also want him to apologise publicly to the fans because we have an obligation to show respect to the fans. They have been supporting us for 17 years,” said Taylor.

Taylor said that a few hours after the show ended, he got a Whatsapp message from Corey Todd, the manager of Masicka, saying that the artiste had encountered some challenges, which prevented him from getting to the venue.

“GT my phone died ... the deejay was on his way, but the bus broke down ... he was trying to make it to the show, just give me your account info to send back your deposit. You know it was a tall order to try to make both shows work and he went to rehearsals for your show so he had every intention of making the show ... we have no problem saying it wasn’t your fault,” the message read.
