THE HENRY BOYS LOVE BEING TWINS

- GEORGE HENRY STAR Writer

Kyle and Kahil Henry are identical twins for parents Brendalyn and Mark Henry. Kyle was proud to tell THE STAR’s Life and Times that he was the first to be born on August 14, 2007. Kahil was born 45 minutes later.

They admitted that at times they like being twins; Kyle especially likes that they confuse persons who do not know them well.

Their mother admitted that raising them has been very challenging, but said she has had enjoyable experiences with them, especially when they were much younger.

“However, with their father’s help and that of their grandfather, it has really been manageable; they have been very supportive. So, it has not been too bad,” said Henry.

She said her wish for her sons is that they achieve all the best in life, and added that one wants to be an inventor while the other wants to be an artist.

She stressed that she has always told them that the sky is the limit, and all they need to do is to attend school and give of their best.

They are in grade five at St Richard’s Primary, but in different classes.

“When they just started school, they were both in the same class, but when they reached grade four they were switched, and this has caused them to perform exceptionally well,” she said. “I realise that they do much better when they are not in the same class.”

Unlike other identical twins, Kyle and Kahil don’t like to dress alike. But Henry said they did when they were younger.

Although some parents have difficulty identifying identical twins at times, Henry said she does not have that challenge.

“If they are talking I know who is talking, if one is crying I know who is crying. They both have different sounds. From birth I knew them differently, even if I don’t see them. They both have different personalities,” she said.

Henry shared that whenever one of her sons falls ill, sometime after, the other gets sick as well. However, she was quick to point out that they do not get sick at the same time.

She said when she discovered she was pregnant with twins, it was a ‘wow moment’. She said she was elated and anxious, but noted that twin births are not unusual in the family.

“I expected it to happen. It runs in the family. I was, however, wondering if it was going to be two girls, because the other twins in the family are all girls. My husband has twin aunts and twin sisters. But the surprise was two boys,” Henry said. Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com
