Reno to address defensive woes
Michael Graham, coach of Red Stripe Premier League outfit FC Reno, said he plans to bolster his team’s defensive unit when the transfer opens in January.
Reno, whose current record stands at five wins, seven draws and sixth defeats, are currently sixth in the standings on 22 points.
They were beaten 2-0 by hosts Tivoli Gardens in their last game at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex on Thursday. They have scored 16 goals so far this season while conceding 20.
SOFT GOALS
Graham said that his team has been conceding what he describes as soft goals this season, therefore, they will be going into the transfer market in January to help to solve this problem.
“We definitely will be looking at our defence because the team is letting in too many goals, and so we will look at our defensive unit and make some changes,” said Graham.
Meanwhile, veteran coach Vassell Reynolds, who recently joined Reno’s technical staff, said he will be working hard to improve the team in all areas.
“I am seeing where the team is conceding too many goals, and so that is an area that I would like to make my impression on the team,” said Reynolds who led Rusea’s High to this year’s ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup title.
“I think the club is always looking to freshen up somewhat, and just like any other clubs,” Reynolds said. “There are a number of schoolboys that have just finished the season in the west and that’s an area that they would be looking at, to see who’s need and who we can bring in to improve the team come new year.
“The team has been hanging on between fourth and sixth position for a number of weeks now, and so I think that my input will benefit the team in a positive way going forward,” he said.
Reynolds has also had coaching stints with Humble Lion, Sporting Central Academy and Old Harbour Bay United.
