Reggae Youths, Faulkland FC top in Western Super League
Reggae Youths striker Shanoy Anderson continued to show good form after three rounds of matches in the Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation/ Charley’s JB Rum Super League last Thursday.
He scored in his third consecutive game when they got the better of Montego Bay Boys and Girls’ Club (MBBGC) 3-1 at the UDC field.
Anderson, a former Seba United striker, is the competition’s leading scorer with four goals, half of his team’s overall tally. He also has two assists.
His efforts see the boys in black, green and gold top the Zone One on seven points and second overall, with Faulkland FC of Zone Two just ahead on goal difference.
Faulkland FC has piled on an impressive 10 goals in their three games, led by the former Montego Bay United winger Allan Ottey, with three goals and as many assists.
SHOWED COMPOSURE
The Catherine Hall-based club displayed their composure against Grand Palladium on Saturday at Jarrett Park with a 3-0 victory.
They lead zone two over the former premier league champions Wadadah FC.
Wadadah FC, who made an impressive 5-0 start to the competition over newcomers Grand Palladium in their opening match, found it tough to carry the momentum forward, with two draws in their other outings.
Last year’s champions could only manage a 1-1 draw with Granville, handing the latter their first point of the competition.
After a rocket start with two wins in their first two matches, Beaches Negril of Westmoreland, also on seven points in Zone One, trail Reggae Youths on goal difference.
They could only manage a draw on Saturday in their most recent encounter against Harmony FC.
MBBGC, who last year were unbeaten after eight games, look out of sorts as they are rooted at the bottom of the table after losing all three games so far.
