Gardner says Harbour View will rebound in 2018
Ricardo ‘Bibi’ Gardner, head coach of Harbour View, is touting his team to turn around its form in the new year after a dismal start to the Premier League.The Stars of the East endured a painful first half of the season, accumulating four wins and six draws from 18 games played in three months. That poor form finds Harbour View in 10th position on 18 points in the 12-team league.
However, Gardner is hopeful that his team will turn the form around and start winning games consistently.
PAST BEHIND US
“The past, 2017, is behind us. What happened last year is gone. We are looking for a positive start to 2018,” Gardner told STAR Sports yesterday.
“Like any other club, we would like to add quality players during the transfer window that is now open, but we don’t want to discuss players at other clubs. We will concentrate on the crop here,” he said about the possibility of boosting the squad during the January transfer window.
Harbour View and newcomers Sandals South Coast have scored the fewest goals in the league. Gardner is fully aware of that scenario.
“We have been getting opportunities but not scoring a lot and, obviously, that has affected the team. We just have to put away our chances. If you don’t score, you don’t win games,” said the former Reggae Boyz and Bolton Wanderers captain.
Harbour View will next host lastplace Boys’ Town at Harbour View Stadium tomorrow, starting at 7 p.m.
“We expect a difficult game against Boys’ Town. It could be a very competitive affair but we expect to come away with full points and start the year right,” he said of the upcoming fixture.
