Humble Lion to unleash Foster

Humble Lion said it pulled out all the stops to pry Craig Foster from Reno, ensuring that the striker would make his debut this afternoon against Waterhouse at his new home, Effortville Community Centre, starting at 3 p.m.

Manager Sheldon Holness described the move for the prolific striker as a major one.

“It is a major one. As a club, we sat down and discussed changes. We went aggressively at Craig and got his signature. He is happy and looking forward to his debut on Thursday,” Holness told STAR Sports on Tuesday.

“Last Sunday, we went down to his home in Westmoreland and spent the entire day. We ensured that his family was okay,” he added.

Holness also said that Damion Binns, formerly of Portmore United, and Lorenzo Lewis of Comfort FC have also been transferred to the Clarendonbased club.

Humble Lion president Mike Henry confirmed the big move. “We have secured Craig Foster and other players in the transfer window,” Henry said.

Holness also revealed that the club is in negotiations with Montego Bay United for goalkeeper Jacomena Barrett.

“We are in negotiations for Jacomena. That is not a done deal as yet. We are working on that move,” Holness said.

Foster would strengthen Humble Lion but weaken Reno, for whom he has scored 10 of their 16 goals.

LEAGUE MVP BOOT

Foster became a regular for Reno in the 2010 Premier League season, netting 15 goals in his first season in the top flight, earning the league MVP while finishing second in the race for the Golden Boot. He signed with Motala AIF during the summer of 2011.

Foster returned to Reno at the end of the 2012 season. He returned to Motala AIF for the 2012 Swedish season and also played for IFK Mariehamn in 2013.

In July 2015, Foster was loaned to USL side Harrisburg City Islanders for the remainder of the 2015 season. He scored on his debut for the Islanders against New York Red Bulls II on July 12, 2015.

Ahead of the 2016 season, Foster’s loan option was exercised, bringing him permanently on the Islanders’ roster. He rejoined Reno in January 2017.
