Benbow back at Waterhouse
Donovan White, president of Red Stripe Premier League outfit Waterhouse, said talks are under way with national attacking midfielder Cardel Benbow, who has been training at Drewsland.
White told STAR Sports that Waterhouse are hoping to complete negotiations soon, which would enable Benbow to start playing in the league.
“We are certainly in discussions with him and his agent. We hope that we will conclude the negotiations very early in the New Year,” said White.
“He is an excellent attacking player who would help our team in that department very much,” he said.
Waterhouse are sixth in the standings on 23 points. White said that he is somewhat satisfied with the team’s position, but there is a lot of work to be done.
“I think we are very pleased. We have made good progress in the second round of the competition to get our team into the top half of the table,” said White.
“We still have a lot of work to do to continue improving that position. That’s our aim – to continue to improve as the season progresses,” he said.
The 22-year-old former St George’s College star last represented Waterhouse in 2013 before moving to Harrisburg City in the United Soccer League in the United States.
The skilful player then moved to Portmore United on loan from Harrisburg last season.
Benbow made his international debut for the Reggae Boyz on October 2014 in a 10-1 loss to Japan.
