Chef killed by fake cops

At 4 a.m. in Bounty Hall, Trelawny, 24-year-old Jonathan Crossdale heard knocking on his bedroom door, followed by the words “Police, Police”. He got up, and opened the door while his common law wife, Aretha Shreves, went to turn on the light.

But in a split second four men then opened fire, hitting the chef, who was employed to a local hotel.

His three stepchildren, who were asleep in another room, told THE STAR that they heard gunshots but saw nothing.

NO MOTIVE

A neighbour, who did not want to be identified, described Crossdale as a nice man who loved reggae music.

The Trelawny police say no motive has been established for killing.

“The traumatised children will receive grief counselling. This is being arranged to take place as early as possible,” said Superintendent Dwight Powell.

According to Powell, the killing of Crossdale is the second murder to be committed in the parish in 2018.

“The other is that of an unidentified man. At around 11 a.m. on Saturday, the police were summoned to Gravel Hill in Duanvale, which is in the Clarks Town Police Division. There, the body of an unidentified man was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Falmouth Hospital where he was pronounced dead,” he said.
