Shaneika Hibbert aims for big things in 2018

-

Cottage 9 Records artiste Shaneika Hibbert will be releasing a new video for her single, ‘Love It When You Like It’, and she claims the song’s popularity pushed her record label to bankroll a new video for the project.

“The videographer is working on the final touches of the video and it should be released by early February. My fans are asking about it. Oh my God, when it plays on the radio, my phone a bun up. People are dancing to it and send it to me on Instagram. I love the feedback,” Shaneika said.

According to her, the saucy song is laced with sexual innuendos that has forced FM radio to sit up and pay attention, and the song has found its way into the top five of the Street Link charts.

The single was released in October last year on a dancehall beat produced by Cottage 9 Records and Reblah Star, and mixed by Jheneal ‘Jay-Crazie’ Witter.

EARLY INFLUENCES

Born Shaneika Hibbert, she grew up in Bluefields, Westmoreland, where she attended Godfrey Stewart High in Savanna-la-Mar. In her early years, she attended the Bluefields Mount Assembly Church where she joined the choir as a lead vocalist. Her early influences included Whitney Houston and Beyoncé. In her adolescent years, she began to experiment with writing songs that embraced the essence of cultural roots life from an urban perspective.

She began to work as a cabaret singer, and hosted karaoke events. After that, she landed several invites to sing at weddings. It was during one of her gigs that she met music producer Caroline St George, who fell in love with her incredible talent.

Shaneika recently did a Good Love collaboration with Fambo and the legendary Robbie Rivera (under his KB City label) on a song that fuses Shaneika and Fambo’s Jamaican reggae and dancehall vibes with Robbie’s mix of sexy House Music.

“I am looking forward to big things in 2018,” she said.
