Waterhouse, H’View face off
Boys’ Town kept alive their slim hopes of surviving the drop in the Red Stripe Premier League with a close win over rivals Arnett Gardens yesterday, while a Junior McGregor brace lifted Tivoli Gardens to a strong 3-1 win over Cavalier. Things will heat up tonight as Waterhouse will look to maintain their sixth-place position when they host Harbour View in tonight’s feature game at Drewsland Stadium, starting at 8:30 p.m. Since Donovan Duckie took charge of the team from Glendon ‘Admiral’ Bailey last November, Waterhouse have progressed up the table from 10th position and will certainly be targeting another positive result tonight. Waterhouse have been unbeaten in their last nine games and amassed 17 of a possible 27 points in that run with Duckie’s influence boosting the team after a poor start to the competition.
VALUABLE SUPPORT
Riding high on that change in form, Waterhouse will look to keep the supporters happy with a positive result. Kemar ‘Bushy’ Beckford is the chief reason for that rise as he scored eight times to be the team’s leading goal scorer. Beckford should get valuable support from Tremaine Stewart, who is on four goals, Andre McFarlane, and national defender Shawn Lawes.
Meanwhile, Harbour View who are in ninth position on 30 points will seek to climb above Waterhouse with a win in tonight’s crucial encounter.
The Ricardo ‘Bibi’ Gardner-coached team is awaiting a decision on their match against Tivoli Gardens, which ended prematurely with the Stars of the East leading 2-0 in the second half.
Before that, they went down 1-0 to relegation bound Sandals South Coast but will be expecting better things tonight having brought in veterans such as Marcelino ‘Bassa’ Blackburn and Rafiek Thomas during the transfer window.
