Knights look to bounce back

- ROBERT BAILEY

Defending champions Urban Knights will be seeking their first win in this year’s National Basketball League when they take on Upper Room Eagles in today’s feature game at the National Arena at 6 p.m. The Knights are coming off a 65-56 loss to the UWI Runnin Rebels in their opening game last Saturday. However, technical director Kevin Alexander said his team played well despite their defeat, and he is confident that they will come out on top today. “We are expected to come out victorious,” said Alexander. “Upper Room have two big guys in the centre, but they are not mobile and so we are going to pull them out of their comfort zone and do what we do best to win the game.” “There is no concern after that defeat because we played well against Runnin Rebel, but they were just fortunate down the stretch to hit three three-point shots, and that was what won them the game,” Alexander said.

“I think without those three-point shots the game could have gone either way, and so we are looking forward to this game against Upper Room,” he said.

FAVOURITES

The Knights will be depending heavily on veteran players Fernando Young, Omar Barnes and Oniel Mundle to lead their charge to victory.

On the other hand, the Eagles, who are one of the favourites to win this year’s title, are coming off an easy 6848 win over former champions Tivoli Wizards in their opening game.

The Eagles will rest their hopes in the hands of Jermaine Brown, Michael Morris and Ashley Marshall to lead them to victory.

In the second match of the doubleheader, Majesty Legends will go in search of their second straight win when they take on Spanish Town Spartans at 7:45 p.m.
