Not too young to serve God
It is a known fact that one is never too young to be saved, and it is also factual that the Lord is not biased in whom He blesses. It was Jesus in Matthew 19:14 who said, “Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. So, since creation God, has always been interested in youth.
Well, Danika Ashman, who is a member of the Nine Miles Four Square Christian Fellowship Church in Spalding, Clarendon, is one young person who believes that the Lord is not biased when He blesses.
She surrendered her life to Jesus Christ at the age of 12, and currently serves as president of the Inter-School Christian Fellowship at Spalding High School in the parish.
Growing up in a Christian home where both her parents are born-again Christians and where Christian principles are upheld, Ashman shared that she decided to surrender her life to her Maker because it was the best thing to do.
“I decided to follow the footsteps of my parents, and hence, I saw the need to follow the Lord,” said young Ashman.
She testified that the Lord was good to her before she got saved and has continued to be so. Apart from saving her soul, she pointed out that the goodness of Jesus towards her started the day she was born at seven months as a premature baby.
“My mother told me that I was born at seven months and had pneumonia. It was said that I would not be able to live, but the Lord has spared my life and I am now in fifth form at school,” said the young Christian leader. Ashman further testified that the Lord has also seen her through difficult academic challenges. One such occasion was when she was to sit a cosmetology examination in which she was supposed to do a hairstyle she was not good at. “I prayed to the Lord before I went into the examination, and it turned out that when the results came out, I was the one who performed the best overall. I was the only candidate who came out with a grade five in the HEART Trust/NTA examination. It was evident that it was the Lord who helped me. I went into the examination not knowing which style I was going to be asked to do. I asked Him to just guide me so that I could do my best,” testified Ashman. Ashman urges Christians who want to be successful but lack faith to first believe that God is able to see them through whatever circumstances they are faced with. She noted that if they pray a lot, read the Bible, and meditate on God’s efforts, He will see them through. “Seek the Lord as part of your development, trust Him, and always believe that He will see you through,” she said.
