Gregory Palmer, coach of Faulkland FC, who captured the JFF Western Confederation-Charley’s JB Rum Super League mid-season finals 2-0 on Sunday over Reggae Youths FC, said he is not concerned about chatter that the winners of the mid-season crown do not usually win the league.

“This win is basically a morale booster, because last year at this time. we were sixth so we can use this as a positive to motivate and encourage the team,” said Palmer.

“The motivation and talking point is that Reno did it before and Granville did it two years ago, so we have to use the positive and not dwell on the negative like all the other persons in Montego Bay. We need to be positive, and once the youngsters are executing what is being taught at Faulkland FC, on the day is what count,” he added.

Faulkland, who finished fourth in the league last season, sent a clear signal on Sunday of what they are set out to do this season. Renaldo McLeish (23rdminute penalty) and Peter Campbell (56th minute) to give Faulkand victory in the game played at Jarrett Park.

Coach Palmer is not counting his chickens before they are hatched.

“The objective is to make it to the semi-finals. Right now, we are in basically a good position with six games to go. We have to make sure we are there in the semis and then we have two games to take it from there. We can’t sing past that,” said Palmer.

He said the club’s objective is to gain promotion to the Premier League next season.
