Mavado expected to thrill fans at US show

-

At last year’s staging of Best of the Best, the show ended abruptly and Mavado missed his set, leaving the patrons short-changed. According to Steven ‘Jabba’ Beckford, the show’s organiser, he and dancehall star Dexta Daps were at odds because the artiste refused to perform during his allotted time.

Dexta Daps’ decision later caused the show to run late and resulted in Mavado missing his set, as the plug was pulled by law-enforcement officers.

For their upcoming 12th anniversary, Jabba is adamant that the singjay will get to thrill his fans.

“Rest assured, Mavado will perform and will perform his full set on this year’s Best of the Best. What occurred last year will not happen again,” he said. Jabba, who faced a barrage of complaints from disgruntled patrons, decided to take stern action, which has resulted in a lifetime ban for Dexta Daps from the annual show. While Mavado is expected to treat patrons to songs from his massive catalogue, the Best of the Best team revealed that they have a few heavyweight artistes on the lineup. Performers already confirmed for the show include US-based Jamaican rapper/dancehall artiste Hood Celebrity, Shenseea, Ding Dong, Romain Virgo, Richie Stephens, Ghost, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Kerwin Dubois, Aidonia, Capleton and Mavado. Best of the Best is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 27.
