Faulkland’s McLeish in red-hot form
Nineteen-year-old attacking midfielder Ronaldo McLeish of Faulkland FC says that he is working towards scoring 20 goals this season.
McLeish has so far scored eight goals in 12 appearances in the JFF Western Confederation/ Charley’s JB Rum Super League.
“I would not say it’s easy, to tell the truth, but I’m working hard and I have made up my mind. Sometimes when I am playing a match and I’m not getting any chance at all, I always tell myself that when I get one chance, I’m going to score,” said McLeish.
The former St James High School student, McLeish said that coach Gregory Palmer, who is also a guidance counsellor and dean of discipline at Spot Valley High School, has been playing an important role in his development.

Faulkland, the midseason champions, came from behind Sunday to draw 1-1 with Harmony FC, with Odane Snow (57th) cancelling out Shaunavan McKenzie’s 16th-minute strike to keep them top of the 12-team table by a point over Reggae Youths. The win puts them closer to the semifinals of the Super League. McLeish says that his dream is to see his team all the way to the Premier League.
“The first aim was to win the midseason finals, so we are focusing on the second aim to make it to and win the finals and then to make it to the national Premier League. To make it to the national league, we just have to put our minds to it, train hard, and have the right attitude for things to happen,” said McLeish.
The attacker scored four goals last season for Montego Bay Boys and Girl’s Club, which reached the play-offs finals but lost to Sandals South
Coast.
