King elated with century
Prolific Kingston CC batsman Brandon King has credited knowing the strengths and weaknesses of his game as key to him continuing to show good form with the bat locally and regionally.
The former West Indies Under-19 batsman, who last season was the leading runs scorer in the national two-day Senior Cup, notched his first century of the season at the weekend against red-hot St Catherine CC at Sabina Park.
The Jamaica Scorpions middleorder batsman hit a boundary-filled 132 on his way to topscoring for Kingston in their first innings total of 259.
St Catherine, who entered the topof-the-table Zone D clash with three wins from as many outings, led by 55 not out from the experienced Tamar Lambert, eventually claimed first innings in the encounter after scoring 267.
Kingston, in their second turn at bat, declared on 210 for four before the game was called off with Aaron Johnson, 101, leading the way.
“I believe I am starting to understand my game a little better,’’ expressed King. “It felt good batting and I am happy I was able to help the team to a fairly good total, as we were at one stage struggling at 80odd for six.

“We were, however, not as sharp as we would have liked in the field, and this cost us first innings.’’
The 23-year-old King, who scored 86 against Trelawny two weeks ago, struck an impressive 13 sixes during his innings to go along with seven fours, most of which was hit straight and high in the stands.
“It was about getting into the right positions and timing the ball as good as I could,’’ King explained.
“I am really enjoying my game at the moment, and the hope is that I will be able to continue the form I am in, and hopefully help lead Kingston into the quarterfinals and to the title this season.’’
