New rules for barber and beauty competition

-

There are new rules and other changes in the 2018 renewal of the JN Small Business Loans Barber and Beauty Battle.

The competition is in its application round, which started on February 19 and will run until March 31.

In the first three years of the competition, the judges selected 10 semi-finalists from each category to move into the social media voting round.

From there, the public was invited to ‘like’ the works of their favourite competitors. Then, the six contestants with the most votes moved on to the finals.

Ockino Petrie, chairman of the organising committee, said, “What will now pertain is that the top three contestants with the most votes in each category will advance to the finals. The other three spaces in each category will be reserved for the judges’picks.”

The top 10 contestants in the categories of barbers, hairdressers, nail technicians, and make-up artists will then move on to the second round of the competition. At that juncture, members of the public will be invited to ‘like’ the works of the competitors on social media.

In addition to the rule changes, this year’s competition will also increase its monetary awards, and a team category will be added for spas.

This year, the winning barber, hairdresser, make-up artist, and nail technician will each receive a share of $3 million in cash and prizes.

The voting on social media runs from April 9 to April 13. After that date, the top 24 contestants, six from each category, will move on to the finals.

At the finals, these 24 persons will receive challenges from which the top three winners in each category will be selected.

To enter the competition, contestants should submit ‘before’ and ‘after’ photographs of their work to jnsblbattle@gmail.com or by WhatsApp Messenger to 284-2709.
