I believe in marriage before sex

-

Dear Pastor, I have a slight problem and I hope you will be able to help me. I’m a 19year-old Christian girl who would like to get married one day.

During the time, I started to put my beliefs into practice. I have dated two guys and the both of them wanted to have sex with me, even though I told them I believe in marriage before sex.

Considering what happened, every time I think about getting married and having sex, it just turns me off. I just can’t see myself doing it.

But on the other hand, sometimes I feel I have to be with someone. I don’t want to be on my own.

My grandmother always tells me that when I get older and want to have sex, I should just do it with protection and don’t bother living with a man. But that advice is against the word of God.

Please, help me. Maybe I am thinking about sex too much, or that I am worried about the pain it will cause.

T.H. Dear T.H., You have your standard and you know that the Bible teaches that premarital sex is wrong. So you have refused as a Christian to engage in premarital sex.

However, one of these days you may meet a man who loves you and believes like you and he may marry you. You won’t even think about feeling pain when you are engaging in sex.

Don’t give up on what you believe. Don’t lower your standard. Your grandmother means well, but her teaching is wrong. The Good Lord will help you to find a good man.

Pastor
