- MARC STAMP STAR Writer

Tivoli Gardens joined Portmore United and Arnett Gardens in the top-six qualification group for the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) Championship title after a comfortable win over relegated Boys’ Town in yesterday’s action.

The Omar Edwards-coached Tivoli team defeated their neighbours 3-1 in front of their fans at the Edward Sega Complex yesterday to secure a victory that pushed them to 50 points.

It’s the same amount of points tallied by Arnett Gardens, who battled to a 0-0 draw against Harbour View at the Harbour View Stadium, however, the ‘Junglists’ currently occupy second spot due to a better goal difference.

With Portmore already assured of the number one spot, Arnett and Tivoli will enter the final preliminary round on Wednesday in a battle for the second automatic semi-final spot.

FOUR QUALIFIERS

The top-two teams will get a bye to the semi-final round, while the other four qualifiers will battle for the remaining two spots.

Cavalier themselves inched closer to a top-six spot, following a massive 4-0 hammering of FC Reno at the Anthony Spaulding Complex. That win saw Cavalier, which have a superior goal difference to their Drewsland-based rivals, move up to 47 points, edging Waterhouse to fourth spot in the standings.

Harbour View are in sixth position on 46 points, just one ahead of seventh-place UWI FC.
