Falmouth United the team to beat
Dean Weatherly, coach of Falmouth United, believes that winning the mid-season finale of the Grandeur Transportation Services/MonyMusk Rum Trelawny FA Major League Football Competition 4-0 over Duanvale FC on Saturday now puts a target on their backs.
“Where we are now, going into the return leg for the second round, is going to be a lot harder. A lot of people weren’t looking at us at the start of the season, but now that we have come and started making a statement, uneasy lies the head of he that wears the crown,” said Weatherly.
Weatherly, who is arguably one of the most accomplished coaches in the western region told WESTERN STAR although they look superb in the Major League so far, they are looking to step things up going forward as their primary objective is to make it to the JFF Western Confederations/Charley’s JB Rum Super League.
“Yes, we have a mission, and each step is a step towards advancing towards the confed, what will be a totally different story in terms of the level of competition. So now we will have to step things up so we can maintain that standard going forward to the confed,” he added.
Falmouth United’s top marksman, Charles Grant, whose dream is to play in the Premier League, found the net again on Saturday, taking his tally to five goals. Ricardo James, Alex Williams, and Deandre Alvaranga all had a goal each.
Grant, the 19-year-old former Muschett High School striker, said that his aim is to help take his team to the next level by scoring anywhere close to 20 goals.
