Portmore United put in a dominant display against the youthful Cavalier, with a superb showing at both ends of the pitch, winning 3-0 to comfortably move into the final of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) for the third consecutive season.

Cavalier failed to trouble Portmore at Prison Oval yesterday, as Javon East netted a brace in the 5th and 72nd minutes, while defender Jermie Lynch added the other goal in the 48th minute.

Portmore will await the winner of tonight’s decisive second leg semi-final between reigning champions Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, starting at 8:35 p.m.

The final is scheduled for Monday, April 23 at the National Stadium.

Meanwhile, Waterhouse’s assistant coach, Akeno Morgan, said that after the 1-0 win against Arnett in the first leg at Drewsland, the team is confident and ready for tonight’s decider.

“The guys are up and ready for this encounter. This is the moment they live for. It is a semi-final, so I don’t think it will take much to motivate the players,” Morgan told STAR SPORTS.

Morgan also believes that after struggling in and battling relegation earlier in the season, the team is now focussed on taking it one step further and into the final.

“With where we are coming from, we were fighting for relegation and now it is a chance for the title. There is nothing much you could do to boost the team for the game against Arnett,” he also said.

STAY FOCUSSED

“We just have to continue to work hard and stay focussed. We are fully aware that it is difficult playing at Arnett’s home turf, but we are ready for the challenge,” Morgan pointed out.

Reigning champions Arnett Gardens are without a win in the last 11 RSPL games, but veteran coach Jerome ‘Jerry’ Waite remained confident that his team will win tonight, despite the deficit.

“We conceded a goal against Waterhouse, but they will face a different Arnett in the Jungle. This is Arnett’s time and we are ready for them,” Waite confidently said.

The coach said that Vishinul Harris and Kemal Malcolm, who are struggling with injuries, could play some part in the game.
