Waite, Duckie in line for new deals

- ROBERT BAILEY STAR Writer

National assistant coaches Jerome Waite and Donovan Duckie are next in line to obtain new contracts from the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

Dalton Wint, general secretary of the JFF, says the association will be meeting with the senior national football assistant coaches in the coming weeks in an effort to iron out their contracts. He added that they are moving swiftly to ensure that individual contracts are sorted out very urgently.

“So far everything is OK with them and we will have another opportunity to have another sit down with these people, but now they are focusing on the upcoming two games that we will be playing,” he said.

Head coach Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore returned to the post last Friday after withdrawing a letter of resignation he handed in on April 6. He had resigned after months of negotiations and discussions failed to produce an acceptable permanent contract. Minister of Sports Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange acted as a mediator between Whitmore and the JFF in bringing about an amicable resolution to the dispute on April 13.
