Trench Town-based record producer Burban has teamed up with recording artiste Judge, to form a communitybased label called Courthouse Records.

According to the producer, he and his team are riding the wave of Trench Town’s ongoing development initiative.

The producer said that the youth are on a positive path and are drawing influence from the Marleys.

“Back in the day, man used to a fight war for politicians, but the youth dem a Trench Town wise up now. They are not into that lifestyle, because they realise that nothing good can come from it,” he said. “A years now we don’t have crime in Trench Town. The youth have opportunity and we even have a free studio for the community.”

The producer also revealed that outsiders have been moving into the community, which shows that there is a demand for Trench Town.

“People from Europe a move here and a build some big house. So we the people have to realise what we have and see how best we can get a better life for ourselves, using this community,” he said. “You have artistes here who have no (big) names, but they are selling dubplates, and that shows that there is power in the brand of Trench Town.”

The producer is working with a slew of young artistes, including Cookie Queng.

He was raised in the community and revealed that Trench Town is very competitive for recording artistes, since they are literally on every corner.

He is set to release his first record called Paradise. It will be featured on the Party Vibes rhythm. Another song, titled Loyalty, is also scheduled for release.

Courthouse Records is comprised of members Burban, The Judge, Chris Roach and Andrew ‘Caney Man’ Blacks.
