Ewan ‘Butter’ Grandison, Portmore United’s captain, says that his team is pumped up and ready to challenge Atletico Pantoja of Dominican Republic in the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship semi-final at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Trench Town on Friday.

Both teams will meet in the first game of a semi-final double header, starting at 6 p.m. In the second game, Arnett Gardens will face-off against Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago, at 9 p.m. The winners of each of the semi-finals will advance to the championship game on Sunday.

Grandison, whose team is the host club of the final phase of the competition, said his team is ready for the big stage.

“The celebrations after the final (Red Stripe Premier League final) is over. Now, the focus is on the game this Friday. We are in a bigger league and we are up and ready for the game,” Grandison told STAR Sports yesterday.

STEP BY STEP

With the champion club moving on to the CONCACAF Champions League in 2019, Grandison is taking it in strides.

“This is the stage where we want to be. We want to contend for a place in the CONCACAF Champions League next year. A lot of persons know about the Champions League in Europe. This is our Champions League. It is big, but we will take it step by step,” he added.

Having won the RSPL last month against Waterhouse, the Portmore skipper says the team is ready to leave everything on the pitch.

“We are the champions of Jamaica, so we are prepared for this. We are not anxious, it is just that everybody is pumped and ready for action,” Grandison concluded.
