Dancehall artiste Konshens continues to mourn his brother Delus’ death through the release of the single ‘All The Days Of My Life’.

The entertainer, who has remained silent on Delus’ alleged suicide, poured out his heart in the track that also features singer Satori.

“Dawg, wa mek yuh cut? Yuh couldn’t stay little longer, right when we a go start live out the life whe we plan for? Seet a come ya now, dis we did a work so hard so long fa ... Sometime me try tough it out, gwaan like soldier and gangsta. Sometimes me vex wid you, dawg, yuh lef me here full a anger, but most a di time me just a cry cuz me miss you. Mi just wish me coulda get a second chance to walk with you,” an excerpt of the song states.

On June 22, 2016, Delus’ body was discovered in his bathroom with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), residents of Riverside Drive in Havendale, St Andrew, alerted the police after hearing an explosion coming from the artiste’s apartment.

Minutes before his death, it is alleged that Delus recorded a video of himself holding a gun to his head and speaking of long-standing personal problems.

Although Konshens hardly ever spoke about his brother’s death, he was always vocal about how influential Delus was in his career and how he lived in his footsteps.

DEPRESSION

In the track, Konshens tackles depression from which Delus allegedly suffered.

“Nuff time me pree to take a run to. Nuff time mi sidung and take a hard look pon me gun to. Fi see di mirror and see a enemy. Mi no reach a coke yet, but me drown myself inna Hennessy. Da depression ting ya a f**kery dawg. Nuff people see di smiley face and don’t even know how it f***ing hard,” the song continued.

According to psychiatrist Dr Jeffery Walcott, Konshens expressing his grief through song is just one of many methods.

“A lot of persons will think there is a time period for mourning, but there is no limitation to the grieving process and there are variable factors. The creative arts is just one of the ways in which persons encourage expression and closure,” he said.

Konshens and Delus emerged on the dancehall scene in the early 2000s as the duo Sojah. Their first hit was Medz Pon Di Corner, released by the Cash Flow label in 2004.

That year, the brothers toured Japan, where the song was popular. They also released the album, Sons of Jah.

Eventually, they went solo but often collaborated on songs like She’s Happy, So High, Wake Up and Call The Police.
