Couple accused of beating woman
Bail with strict conditions was granted to a woman labelled as a ‘first lady’ in Greenwich Town, after it was alleged that she and her partner, an alleged don, held and beat another woman into an unconscious state. Charged with wounding is Nicole Clarke. She pleaded not guilty when the matter was called up yesterday in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
The court was told that Clarke allegedly used a bottle to hit the complainant all over her body, with concentration on her face.
The complainant said: “Your Honour, she claim say she a first lady because her man a don in the Greenwich Town area. She and her man beat me until I passed out.”
The court heard that the accused male has been charged in the matter. However, it is said that he is currently on the run, after successfully evading the police after several attempts were made to apprehend him.
NEEDED STITCHES
Further allegations are that the alleged don beat the complainant in her knee area, opening up a wound.
“Your Honour, they said I needed stitches, but I didn’t because it would result in me walking with a limp because of the extent of the injury,” the complainant told the court. The medical report is outstanding. Parish Judge Chester Crooks granted Clarke, who wept in the courtroom, bail in the sum of $30,000 with strict conditions.
A fingerprint order was made, and she is to report to the Hunts Bay Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Clarke was also told not to contact or interfere with the complainant.
She is to return to court on July 6.
