Kartel professes love for ‘Gaza ladies’

- SHEREITA GRIZZLE STAR Writer

The ‘Gaza nation’ has been unwavering for more than a decade, fearlessly standing behind their leader, incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel, through the many controversial issues he has faced during his career. They stood by him through thick and thin, and it seemed the deejay could do no wrongs in the eyes of his loyal ‘Gaza fans’. That was not the case last weekend, however, when a picture of the deejay’s alleged new girlfriend was posted to his official Instagram page.

The deejay came under harsh criticism over the picture which showed off a woman many have labelled as ‘Caucasian’. Persons also lashed out at the entertainer for leaving his black woman, ‘Shorty’, for a ‘white girl’.

“See wah mi tell unuh bout Jamaica men, dem nuh real. Look how him quick fi diss Shorty fi some white gyal,” one user wrote.

“A wah cudda cause dis? Mek sure whitey deh dung a court July a protest fi yuh release,” another added.

The person handling Kartel’s Instagram page did not directly name the woman as the deejay’s girlfriend, but based on comments posted by both pages, fans quickly interpreted the post as Kartel’s official introduction of his new woman.

His actions afterwards also sealed the deal for many as the deejay in a later post came to the woman’s defence. In the post, the person handling the deejay’s page lashed back at critics, pointing out that 99.99 per cent of black women relax their hair or wear ‘Caucasian’ wigs.

The naysayers were labelled as hypocrites, pointing out in summary, that black people are always quick to judge when they do so much to change the core of who they are as they aspire to be ‘white’. He encouraged his critics ‘check themselves before they check someone else’. The deejay turned off the comments on that post, and then a few days after it was deleted all together.

VISIBLY ABSENT

The entertainer has since been trying to make amends and has seemingly apologised to his ‘Gaza ladies’. In two separate posts, the deejay is pictured in throwback photos with numerous black women with a caption that said: “Good evening Gaza ladies ... Unuh vex wid me, but I’ll always love you.” The caption was sealed with the hashtags ‘#Makeupsex’ and ‘#VybzKartel’.

His ‘apology’ seemed to have gone over well with his female fans, many of whom commented to say that although they were hurt by his actions, they cannot be upset with the ‘Worl’ Boss’ for long.

Kartel’s common-law wife ‘Shorty’ was visibly absent from the series of pictures, causing persons to question whether or not the two are still an item.

When THE STAR contacted a source close to the entertainer, he said he could not confirm the status of the relationship between Kartel and Shorty, neither could he confirm whether the woman posted to Kartel’s page last weekend was his new girlfriend.

The source said that while the deejay’s Instagram page is active, he is not sure who is managing the account while the deejay is behind bars.
