Capleton’s bail extended
EMBATTLED REGGAE superstar Capleton is to return to court on July 13 after his bail was extended yesterday when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Capleton, whose given is name Clifton Bailey, is charged with rape.
This is the second mention date since the artiste was granted bail on May 14. He was charged on May 11. Allegations are that Capleton had forced a hairdresser to have sexual intercourse with him.
THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the woman told the police that she was hired by the entertainer to go to a hotel in New Kingston on April 28 to groom his hair.
According to the police, she claimed that while there, the entertainer held her down and had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
The woman made a report to the police on May 2.
EXTORTION
The police said that later that day, the entertainer went to the Half-Way Tree Police Station and reported that the woman was trying to extort him.
Capleton was arrested and charged after he was interviewed by police investigators in the presence of his attorney.
The police say the investigation into the allegations against the woman is ongoing.
