Capleton’s bail extended

EMBATTLED REGGAE superstar Capleton is to return to court on July 13 after his bail was extended yesterday when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Capleton, whose given is name Clifton Bailey, is charged with rape.

This is the second mention date since the artiste was granted bail on May 14. He was charged on May 11. Allegation­s are that Capleton had forced a hairdresse­r to have sexual intercours­e with him.

THE WEEKEND STAR understand­s that the woman told the police that she was hired by the entertaine­r to go to a hotel in New Kingston on April 28 to groom his hair.

According to the police, she claimed that while there, the entertaine­r held her down and had sexual intercours­e with her against her will.

The woman made a report to the police on May 2.

EXTORTION

The police said that later that day, the entertaine­r went to the Half-Way Tree Police Station and reported that the woman was trying to extort him.

Capleton was arrested and charged after he was interviewe­d by police investigat­ors in the presence of his attorney.

The police say the investigat­ion into the allegation­s against the woman is ongoing.
