Spice and Bella Blair clash on social media

- SHEREITA GRIZZLE STAR Writer

Another social media squabble dominated the Internet yesterday as fans of both Bella Blair and dancehall’s leading lady Spice went all out to throw their support behind their respective artiste.

This after a post made by Bella drew a harsh response from dancehall’s new queen.

Giving her two cents on Spice’s behaviour on reality TV series Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, Bella took to Instagram to sarcastically point out that Spice’s representation on the show is exactly what her fellow Jamaicans want to see.

Spice was seemingly caught up in a brawl on the show’s latest episode, and Bella could not resist pointing out that Spice’s behaviour isn’t exactly the image a woman with her popularity and reach should be portraying.

The comment did not sit well with Spice, who took to Instagram to respond.

The dancehall diva held nothing back as she blasted Bella for calling her out for simply defending herself.

In her post, Spice pointed out that her behaviour and the behaviour Bella would often display in her skits, that brought her to the public’s attention, were not starkly different.

“Memba say me never know bout u until u start acting brawling and ‘ghetto’, it was the same representation that made you but a so nuff a unu hypocritical,” a part of Spice’s response read. “No man no have my receipt a road like yu, so move yu dutty bl**dcl**t and gwey. Mi never know me shoulda go pan LHH (referring to the BET show) go create baptism and all a who a talk bout fight a same so if mi did go siddong and make dem beat mi over deh unu still would a r**s talk.”

Spice added that the entire reality TV series is based on drama and confrontations and said she doesn’t see why people have issues when she is caught in the middle.

Bella responded to Spice and apologised for having any expectations of her. The ‘Hot Gyal Sumting’ singer said she hopes all the fighting on the show gets Spice to where she needs to be because she still does not approve.

Spice, determined to have the final say, pointed out that she is not Bella’s pastor or mother and doesn’t understand why the up-and-coming artiste would even have expectations of her.

Instagram users had mixed reactions to the spat. Some defended Spice, pointing out that Bella had no right to come at Spice because what Spice does is her own business and not anyone’s prerogative.

But others defended Bella, pointing out that someone needed to say something as Spice’s behaviour on the show is not the kind of representation Jamaicans should aim for, especially on an international level.

Bella could not be reached for a comment and Spice did not wish to give the drama any more attention.
