The stage is set as organisers ramp up the entertainment package for the inaugural staging of Yaadie Fashion Week (YFW) in Montego Bay this summer.

The event, which will showcase the best in local fashion and clothing designs, will be held from August 16 to 19 and promises to be a high-style visual feast.

“Our designers are all set, the models are ready and everything is on point to give Montego Bay its first-ever fashion week,” said Charles Douglas, organiser and promoter of the show.

Douglas said that more 40 of Jamaica’s top fashion designers, as well as models from ‘yard and abroad’ will participate in the upcoming event.

“We are closing off the summer with a bang. People are not going to believe the high fashion that exists here in Jamaica and the potential our designs and models have on the international stage,” Douglas said.

The promoter said that the show will feature a line-up of a number of world-renowned local and international artistes.

“If you look around, the international flavour is missing from many shows here in Jamaica ... . If you go around and do your own survey, you will hear people saying they want that kind of flavour back,” Douglas said.

“They miss Jazz & Blues and so that’s why we go back for these international artistes. We want the entire family to come out and see different kinds of things, with reggae mixing with R&B.

“That is the kind of flavour we want build for YFW,” he said.
