Ratingz way up!
Having evolved from just a birthday celebration, Ratingz, now in its sixth year, could potentially need a larger venue for future executions. On Saturday, the Triple Century car park was almost filled to capacity, with what the promoters declared was the biggest turnout.
“The team was definitely satisfied with the overwhelming support — being the first time Ratingz was held there and based on the overwhelming turnout it could definitely outgrow the venue,” said Tarik Scott of Yung Rolaz.
This execution proposed many firsts for the Yung Rolaz entertainment team, including their partnership with Romeich Entertainment. “This is the first time partnering with Romeich Entertainment, and it came about by just trying to make the event bigger and bigger,” said Scott.
Romeich Major told THE STAR: “Essentially, we didn’t use 100 per cent of the space; there was room to make it bigger and that location has worked for events.” He added: “I wouldn’t say to change to a larger venue because a lot of the times a change like that can affect the aesthetics of a party.” The promoters also highlighted that sponsors like Dragon Stout and Sperone were partly responsible for the way the space was utilised, thus making it a successful execution. The previous staging was executed not far away, in the St Lucia car park, which functioned as the designated area for the portable restrooms this time around. The musical offerings satisfied all in attendance, including reggae artistes such as Protoje, Lila Ike, Naomi Cowan, Sevana and Evaflow, who were observed dancing up a storm in the VIP section. It was a good look, especially as a party that has earned its props for having the entertainment provided by disc jockeys known for their hard-core dancehall sets. The patrons received a full dose of a variety of genres, including reggae, dancehall, soca and hip hop that kept them there almost until the sun came up Sunday morning.
