Boom launches King of the South clash

-

Fresh on the heels of their hugely successful Boom Sound Clash, the brand has now taken the competition on the road, the first stop being St Elizabeth.

Speaking at the launch of the King of the South competition at the Las Vegas Cafe in Black River recently, brand manager for Boom, Keteisha McHugh, shared that the team is excited about the move to the south of the island and explained why the decision was made to travel with the event.

“Boom energy drink has been synonymous with dancehall culture and although we have been doing our part to contribute to the development of that culture by hosting this event for the last five years, it’s always been held in Kingston. However, dancehall isn’t Kingston, it is Jamaican and there is a lot of talent across the island that we are now going to bring to the fore,” McHugh explained.

With a $1-million cash prize at stake, the clash, which begins on August 11 at Cross Roads, Junction, will be hosted by Christopher ‘Johnny’ Daley, and will feature the most recent Boom All Star Sound Clash runner-up, Black Blunt, as well as Black Rose, G-Sixx, Mour Dan Sound, Di World General Pink Panther and Reggae King.

The clashes will be judged by Admiral Bailey, producer Esco and a special guest each week.

McHugh shared that the energy drink brand intends to move the sound clash to other parishes.

“The feedback we have been getting so far in St Elizabeth has been great. The sound systems are very excited and can’t wait to get started,” McHugh said. “The excitement has even extended to other parishes, as we’ve received requests from a number of persons outside of St Elizabeth asking us to take the sound clash there as well, and we will be doing just that.”
