EVIL SPIRITS KILLED MY NIECE

-

Dear Pastor, Evil spirits can hurt you. Evil spirits were set on my niece. One night I fell asleep on the bed beside her, and I felt like someone pulling me off the bed. She woke up and started to act in a very strange manner, biting the bedhead and pointing to people in the room that I could not see. I held her, but she slipped away from me. I shouted for help and the neighbours came, and we took her to the hospital, but no one could face her. She bit and kicked the doctors. I held her down. I then felt like I was on fire, and I started to sweat profusely.

The doctor gave her an injection, and she fell asleep. When she woke up, we went home. The following day, several people came to the house and told me that she died. We later found out that the spirits were sent by her father’s girlfriend.

K Dear K., I believe that what you are saying is that evil spirits are real and that they have the power to hurt anyone. I believe the reason for mentioning your niece is to prove the point that they have the power to kill. You were sleeping on the same bed with your niece, and you felt like someone was pulling you off the bed, then your niece started to do some very strange things, which caused her to be taken to the hospital.

She was seeing people in the room that you could not see. That was strange indeed. The doctor did his best, and in the morning she was sent home. Then you got the news that she was dead, so I suppose that is why you believe that it was duppy who killed her.

NO CHANGING YOUR MIND

I know that regardless of what I say here now, I couldn’t stop you from believing that evil spirits killed this young woman. And I know that many people reading your letter today would agree with you, because many people believe that others can send evil spirits to intimidate you and to even take your life. So, I do not believe that I could say anything to change your mind.

You have related a story and others may agree with you. I can only say that people who love the Lord and are endeavouring to serve him, need not fear because the Bible says that the angels of God encamped around them that fear him. Evil spirits, or ‘duppy’ as people commonly call them, cannot take the life of anyone who knows God as saviour and Lord. They may torment them, but they are not capable of killing them because God’s power is supreme. Satan was allowed to tempt Job, but was not able to take Job’s life.
