The annual St Ann Jerk Festival and Family Fun Day has been moved to one of the island’s premier showground, Grizzly’s Plantation Cove in Richmond, St Ann.

Organisers of the event, Streets Entertainment, sees the move as another way of improving the festival, which is set again for Independence Day, August 6, next Monday.

“Grizzly’s Plantation Cove is more spacious, so it offers more parking, more lighting and better security; overall, it’s more comfortable for everyone, even the vendors,” said Kirkland Kelly of Streets Entertainment.

“For five years straight, it (the jerk fest) is the number one event for Independence Day. Jamaicans love jerk food because of the flavour and it’s also quite healthy, so we expect that it will be an enjoyable time for everyone. We have food galore, fun galore, entertainment galore for the entire family,” he said.

The entertainment package includes Charly Black, who is still enjoying popularity with his massive international hit from 2016, Gyal You A Party Animal along with other tracks such as Rich This Year, Whine and Kotch, Bubble Dung and Bike Back.

Also on the line-up are Prohgress, Deep Jahi, Shakespear, Jada Kingdom, Laa Lee Ranks, Darrio, Buck I, Toni Munroe and Shudly.

Plus, there will be Jay B the magician, as well as traditional Jamaican entertainment such as Kumina, bruckins, Jonkonnu and drumming.
