Waite backs Arnett to overturn 3-0 deficit

Man City’s Hart goes to Burnley

- LIVINGSTON SCOTT STAR Writer LONDON (AP):

Arnett Gardens coach, Jerome Waite, said his team has overturned big deficits before and is confident they can do it again when they square off against Arabe Unido of Panama in their CONCACAF League round-of-sixteen return leg game at the National Stadium tomorrow.

Arnett Gardens lost the first leg 3-0, but Waite said the team took a lot of positives from the fact that they created many scoring chances against the Panamanians in Panama, and he is confident they can do the same tomorrow. He added, however, that putting away the chances will be very important.

“It’s a very difficult task, getting back three goals is not easy. But the fact that we created six clear chances away from home, is one positive we can take into the game,” Waite told STAR Sports. “So with this match at home, we know we will create chances but it’s for us to convert. But we have fought our way out of positions like this already, and we know we are capable of scoring four goals.”

CRUCIAL

He insists that the support from the fans would be crucial if they are to get back into the tie, but he said the players must lead by their performances on the field of play, and from that the energy would be transmitted to the fans in the stands.

“The supporters are always behind the Arnett Gardens team. They (Arabe Unido) have the upper hand but once the players can do a good job and give that extra push it will get the supporters involved, and that will be important.”

Burnley signed goalkeeper Joe Hart on a two-year deal from Manchester City yesterday. Burnley manager Sean Dyche was not expecting to be in the market for a goalkeeper until injuries to Nick Pope and Tom Heaton — both England internationals. The club did not disclose a fee.

Hart spent 12 years at City and won two Premier League titles, but he dropped in the pecking order after Pep Guardiola’s arrival and spent the last two seasons on loan to Torino and West Ham.

The 31-year-old Hart also lost his place in England’s World Cup squad.

“Hart’s contribution to Manchester City cannot be overstated,” City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said in a statement. “His passion for and commitment to this club, evidenced by a remarkable tally of 348 appearances, means he will rightly be regarded as a City legend in perpetuity.”

DANISH U20 WINGER TO BRIGHTON

Brighton signed 20-year-old winger Anders Dreyer from Danish league club Esbjerg for an undisclosed fee.

Dreyer, a Denmark youth international, will initially join Brighton’s under-23 squad.

Dreyer topped the scoring in the Danish first division last season and helped Esbjerg win promotion back to the top league.
