Rygin King to use birthday party profits for community treat

- STEPHANIE LYEW STAR Writer

Local artistes have not only displayed their vivid personalities through lyrics but also in celebrating special occasions. However, on-the-rise dancehall recording artiste Rygin King says that’s not necessarily the aim for his upcoming River Party. The trap-dancehall deejay turned 24 on Wednesday, and will return to Jamaica in time to host the event at the Benta River Falls in Williamsfield, Westmoreland, this Sunday.

“For my birthday, I just took an easy day. It was all about rest as the remainder of the week I am booked for performances in Philadelphia and New York, just before the big birthday celebration in Jamaica,” Rygin King told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Currently on tour in the US, the How Me Grow deejay says he is getting ready to party with his family, friends and fans, even though he has already started the celebration through his performances over the past week.

Rygin King will also be providing two shuttle buses to bring fans to the event. These buses will be leaving from the KFC located in the town of Montego Bay, St James.

The event has been advertised that the day-intonight party will have body paintings and water sports for patrons to participate in, with plans to close the activities with a performance by various artistes.

Neither the artiste nor his management team have disclosed the names of the artistes who are booked for the show, only sharing that it will be a special treat for those who attend.

“It is also not about making money to put into my pocket,” said Rygin King. The profits, according to his management team, will be put towards the execution of a community backto-school treat in Norwood Gardens on September 2 at the Home Hill Ball Ground.

Rygin King, in association with the Youth of Norwood, and entertainers Danger Fire and Sure Fresh, will host the treat.

“It is an annual event where books, bags and other supplies needed for school are given to the youth, and also to have fun before school begins,” said the deejay’s manager, Ram.
