COMEDIAN GETS RECOGNITION FROM WORLD CUP VIDEOS

-

During the height of the World Cup fever, Clayan Crawford, 30, decided to make fun of the participating teams by making fun of how they would speak, but he had no idea that it would bring him popularity.

“I made a video for England team with the British accent, and people loved it ... . Did the Chinese one when Korea defeated Germany, and it went viral, so I just kept on doing it,” said Crawford, who is more popularly known as CHEC Boss, a name his co-workers gave him after he worked his way up to a management position after starting out as a labourer at the China Harbour Engineering Company.

He explained that he would always joke around with his friends, but it was not until he started making videos with him being the voice behind several animated characters that he began to receive greater recognition. And after posting the videos on his Instagram page, his following began to grow rapidly.

Crawford says that while watching the various characters that he plays, such as the British monkey, Chinese lion, Spanish chicken, bear and dragon, which appears as animojis, people can’t help but laugh.

“People saying they can’t be sad anymore because of my page. So far, it’s nothing bad, and I have a few people that support me, like DJs who pay for jingles and promoters that pay for party ads,” Crawford, who said he has already recorded more than 50 advertisements, told THE WEEKEND STAR.

However, he admits that the money he makes just adds to his savings. “[You] don’t really know what tomorrow brings, and it’s not like I made any major money, just a 3,000 here and there,” he said.

Also an aspiring artiste, he said that his surge in popularity has also helped his music career.

“I reposted my songs, and I am getting great feedback. I remix Dovey Magnum’s Bawl Out in March, and it got like 2,000 views, and I reposted it a week ago, and it’s now at 10,000. Other Instagram pages even posted, and Dovey Magnum herself even commented on it,” he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

And he hopes that through his ability to speak and give jokes, in the future he will be able to host major events, travel the world, and show off his musical talent.

But until he gets his big break, Crawford said that he would continue to entertain his socialmedia followers.
