Rondell Positive’s event provides scholarships
year.
“It was someone who didn’t initially qualify, but their principal made a special request because of their growth. We took a chance and gave them the scholarship, and they stepped up and became number one in their year group. They maintained the average and became our first brand ambassador,” Richardson added.
Heart Praise Ambassadors are offered tuition payments me make to take them through high school, as well as payments for them to sit their Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams.
Heart Praise Great Start scholars are selected from 10 schools across the St Thomas-Portland area. Scholars are chosen by their principals and guidance councillors, who make their selections based on the following criteria: the recipient must have maintained a 75 per cent average, as well as be involved in their community through a co-curricular activity or community service.
This year, the scholarships were issued to nine out of 10 schools. Arcadia Primary and Infant, Amity Hall Primary, Alias Valley Primary, Thorton Primary, Bound Drook Primary, Norridge Primary, Boston Primary, Rural Hill Primary, and Manchioneal Primary students benefited from this year’s issuance.
According to Richardson, a tenth school that Heart Praise requested submissions from relinquished the offer.
