So Kool gets good feedback for ‘Your Love’
Brooklyn-based dancehall artiste So Kool has released an eye-grabbing visual for his latest single, ‘Your Love’. Featuring RJ, the track was released on July 24, and the music video followed shortly after.
According to the artiste, the song is geared towards the female audience and boasts a catchy, instantly infectious hook that has garnered him a lot of attention.
So Kool is also revelling in the tremendous feedback of another single, Thankful, which was released back in March. That track was inspired by his desire to show others what to be thankful for in life, including the little things that push people towards bettering themselves.
The multitalented artiste, who is also a producer, has been honing his craft for the past four years. While he is based overseas, he keeps true to his roots and stays close to the dancehall culture in Jamaica.
“Being a dancehall artiste based in New York has a lot of challenges, as well as opportunities. This led to how I got started in the business. I was asked to do a backup line on a track, which the artiste liked so much that he asked me to do a full verse and ad-libs. Things took off from there,” he said.
Surrounded and inspired by a host of sounds besides dancehall, the artiste has managed to craft a sound with an international flair, one that can connect to both the local and international scene. Over the course of his career, he has received quite a bit of local and international recognition, with spins on various radio stations, as well as in nightclubs. “Since I have been doing music, the feedback has been good. A lot of motivation and words of encouragement come from my friends and also the fans who I’ve gained over the years,” he said.
