Dalton Wright carries Spot Valley’s hope

-

Amid interest from multiple clubs that are said to be competing for him on their roster, Dalton Wright said he may have to wait until January to decide where to play his club football.

Wright, a defender, is captain of Spot Valley High School. He is linked with a number of clubs in St James, including Red Stripe Premier League outfit Montego Bay United.

“I would be very excited if I got the chance to play in the Premier League. I have to see and make my decision when the time comes because I’m not sure as yet,” said Wright.

“My mind is currently set on Faulkland at the moment, so if any other good opportunity comes across, I’ll see what happens,” he added.

Faulkland FC was a beaten finalist in the Western Confederations Super League. The club’s coach, Gregory Palmer, is also the coach of Spot Valley. He said that he is looking to include Wright into his club team when the transfer window opens in January.

“From Under-14 we have been working with him. He usually plays in the central midfield position, and I said to him that he would be better suited playing around the back because of his ability to read the game. In the midfield, he used to pick out certain passes so that’s where I converted him from a defensive midfielder to the sweeper position,” said Palmer.

“We still have a few things to get right but we are working on it. He is very technical as well. Montego Bay United is scouting him, but you know, we want to bring him to Faulkland,” he added.

Spot Valley have, in recent times, made their presence felt in the daCosta Cup getting to the quarterfinal stage in the past two years.

Spot Valley play in Zone C of the daCosta Cup alongside Herbert Morrison, Holland, Muschett, William Knibb, and Cedric Titus. They have played three games thus far, winning two and losing one.

“I’m looking forward to us leaving the zone this year again and even going further than last year. So we are looking to get past the quarter-finals this season,” he said.
