STATHS, STGC meet in key clash

Last year’s beaten finalist St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) and heavyweigh­ts St George’s College will clash in Group A of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup at Winchester Park this afternoon.

The Neville ‘Bertis’ Bellcoache­d St George’s College, who are unbeaten this season, will be seeking their fifth straight win in the competitio­n. In fact, the Light Blues lead the group with 12 points, two ahead of STATHS, who are also yet to suffer defeat this season.

They are followed by Cumberland on five points, Tarrant (4), Papine (3) and Cedar Grove, who are still waiting to register their first point. In the group’s other games, Tarrant will tackle Papine and Cumberland host Cedar Grove.

Over in Group B, high-flying Kingston College (KC) meet surprise team Mona in a top-of-thetable clash.

The Ludlow Bernard-coached KC, who were a semi-finalist last year, lead the group with 12 points on goal difference ahead of Mona. The Purples, will like their chances having yet to concede a goal this season while scoring 28. They will face an equally stout defensive team in Mona, which have only conceded once this campaign, while scoring six goals.

Both teams are followed in the group by Calabar on six points, Dunoon (3), and Ardenne and Clan Carthy both without a point.

Meanwhile, Group D leaders St Jago (10 points) will play away to Bridgeport (6).

St Jago who are also unbeaten this season, will be looking to extend their lead over secondplac­e Denham Town (7),who will play away to rivals Tivoli Gardens. In the group’s other game, Innswood (3) will tackle Greater Portmore (3).
