‘We need closure’ Missing DNA results holds up funeral

- ALICIA BARRETT STAR Writer

It has been three months since Eunice Keize found the decomposing body of her brother, Michale Gordon, in Windsor Castle, White Spring, St Mary. Gordon, who would have celebrated his 59th birthday on September 20, went missing in mid-June.

Since the horrific discovery of his body, the family has struggled to get closure as they are yet to get his body for burial. Keize said that since her brother’s death, she has to do a DNA test to fully identify his body because it was in a state of decomposition.

“It tough, it rough, enuh. It rough bad. I don’t know how to cope right now,” Keize told THE STAR.

“It is very frustrating because in June, I did a DNA test and they told me in August that something went wrong and I needed to do it again. That was from August and all now we can’t get any information,” he said.

Camille Chambers, Gordon’s niece, said that although he did not have any children, he treated her like a daughter.

“Him have a one-bedroom but sometimes him come over our house and we cook and eat. Him would sometimes sleep over when him don’t feel like staying at his house,” she said.

The Constabulary Communications Unit said that on June 15, a relative was walking on a dirt track in the White Spring community in the parish when she smelled a fowl odour. She went to investigate and saw the decomposing body of Gordon.

Chambers said the lack of information is a cause for great concern.

“From August, the second DNA test has been done and all now we can’t hear anything. We need closure. We need answers so that we can bury our loved one,” she said.
