Mavado drops new single for detained son

-

Dancehall artiste Mavado has released a new song titled ‘Dancehall Prophecy’. The track, which was released on Friday, is said to be dedicated to his son. The entertainer’s 16-year old son is currently being held in a juvenile detention centre as he was again denied bail when he appeared in court earlier this month. He is facing charges ranging from murder to conspiracy to commit murder, arson, shooting with intent, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. Mavado previewed the track on his Instagram page on Thursday, and the video featured slide-show images of his son. The images led persons to believe that the entertainer would be addressing his son’s demise in the lyrics, and that he did. In the song, which is now available on YouTube via the artiste’s official VEVO channel, the entertainer says he wishes his son could understand more about the world he lives in. “Wish mi little son could’ve seen and understand. Nuff a them would love to see your father hang,

Shoot me in my back like they did Daddy Gan, Big funeral like they did Radigan. Set you up, so dem wicked and tan, Can’t trust a soul inna the ghetto weh yuh from. Dem kinda life deh me get away from.” Since the video’s release, Mavado has been receiving positive feedback about the song’s message of not giving up despite facing numerous obstacles. People have also been showing support for the deejay in his role as a father, pointing out that it cannot be easy for him to watch his son face the justice system. They also gave him props for sticking by his son, highlighting that he may not the perfect dad, but they believe he genuinely wants better for his children.

“Big up yah Vado, he’ll help your son plus nuff others,” one viewer commented on Instagram. “Bless up yourself legend, your real fans got your back and is here waiting patiently ... freedom is a must for Dantay,” another posted. “Which is right bro. Tell the kid heads up and chin up from the dad,” yet another added.
