Bail extended for delivery men on larceny charge
Two St James men who allegedly tried to unlawfully remove several food items from a Montego Bay resort using a delivery truck had their bails extended until November 12 when they appeared before the St James Parish Court last Wednesday.
Omar Harvey and Shamar Foster, who are both delivery men, are charged with simple larceny and receiving stolen property.
Allegations are that on August 24, the defendants arrived at the resort to deliver baked goods using a delivery truck.
While they were there, a security officer conducted checks of the vehicle and discovered that several food items, including 10 dozen eggs and an unspecified amount of olive oil and tuna chunks, had been loaded into the truck without proper authorisation.
Harvey and Foster were subsequently taken into custody and slapped with larceny charges.
When the matter was mentioned in court, the defendants’ attorney, Noel Butler, told Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small that he had intended to make a sentence indication application, which would ask the court to provide an idea of what kind of sentence the men would receive if they should plead guilty.
But following further discussions with his clients, Butler indicated that his instructions from them had changed, although no explanation was given.
Wong-Small subsequently ordered Harvey and Foster to submit their fingerprints to the police and extended their bails until November 7, when the case will be mentioned.
