Cop on murder charge linked to Manchester don

Apolice informant yesterday testified in the ongoing ‘death squad’ murder trial that the accused, Constable Collis ‘Chucky’ Brown, was connected with a well-known don in Manchester, whom he called his boss.

The witness, who is also a former convict, told jurors during Brown’s murder trial in the Home Circuit Court that the accused lawman had asked him for information on Dwayne Douglas.

Douglas is one of the men Brown is accused of killing.

The informant claimed that Douglas had “dissed one of Brown’s boss and two of his sons”.

THE STAR gathered that the witness was asked to disclose more information about Brown’s ‘boss’, without calling names.

The informant then told the court that the boss in question is a famous contractor.

The witness, who also told the court on Monday that he had provided information about Douglas’ whereabouts to Brown on the day he was killed, testified yesterday that while he was in prison in 2016, he saw Brown, who told him to keep quiet and not to say anything to anyone about their dealings.

The witness admitted to having several convictions, including many for simple larceny and had served five years in prison for illegal possession of firearm.

He testified that he had entered into a plea bargain deal with the government.

The informant, the Crown’s final witness, also said that he spoke to Brown about the case involving Douglas, who was murdered in Clarendon.

The witness testified: “I asked him wah gwaan with the Dwayne Douglas case with him.”

He said Brown responded, “Nothing no inna that case. That saaf. Me a go buss dat.”

Brown is on trial for the 2009 murder of Robert ‘Gutty’ Dawkins as well as the December 13, 2012 murders of Douglas and Andrew Fearon in Clarendon.

He is also facing one count of wounding with intent and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
