MOTIVATE THE PLAYERS

“I see myself at Humble Lion as a main player,” Howell said. “That player that has to be on the field to motivate the players and carry the team. So we always take the responsibi­lity and lead out the players and carry the team. So we feel good about that (assisting the goal) and we feel good to help the team get its first win as a vital player and the captain.”

“And wi not taking all the glory for wiself, it’s a team effort today. And ‘Country’ (Levaughn Williams) finished the goal so congrats to him, but it’s a team effort,” he commented.

For Humble Lion, the intention now is to go on a winning run. “Wi ah go build on this and go forward. Is five straight wi wah tek and one gone, so we have four more,” he added.

The 32-year-old Howell left Waterhouse five seasons ago because he wanted a new challenge and so far his time at the central Jamaica club has been fruitful, even though they have come up short on a few occasions.

“Is 10 years mi at Waterhouse, mi a play for Waterhouse from mi ah play Manning Cup. So ah whole heap ah years mi give Waterhouse and mi just want ah change inna mi life. Mi mek dat transition and come to Humble Lion because mi did feel like mi did need a change in mi career.

“Mi make the move about five years now when a good friend of mine introduce mi to Humble Lion and bring mi to Mike Henry, and is there suh it start. But a nuh nothing different from Waterhouse, wi just put out the same energy so wi heart deh yah, wi come yah and do the same things,” he said.
